Our Story

Mekong Future Initiative (MFI) is a Singaporean non-governmental organization established in 2019 by Oknha Rithy Sear.

We have grown out of a desire to fully understand of issues related to Mekong youth with a desire raise their standards of living.

Our work seeks to support international trade, investment and entrepreneurship both regionally and internationally.

Rithy Sear

Rithy Sear is a prominent Cambodian entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in running successful businesses. He is the CEO of Worldbridge International, a logistics company established in 1993 which has grown to be one of Cambodia’s leading freight forwarding companies.

Rithy suffered much adversity as a child, growing up during the Khmer Rouge’s oppressive regime and later a refugee of the Cambodian-Vietnamese War. In the early 1990’s, Rithy was appointed as a Freight Auditor for the United Nations Transitional Authority. A few years later, he started his own company and very quickly became one of Cambodia’s most renowned property developers. He is responsible for some of the country’s most iconic developments including The Peak, The Bridge and The Palms.

Rithy founded Worldbridge Land in 2011 and is the current Chairman. In addition to his highly lucrative business, Rithy is an Oknha, a title given to those who have made immense contribution to public projects. He is also a recipient of the Dignitary Medal of Mohasereywat, the highest honour granted by the King of Cambodia.
